Sri
Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal, Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti
Peetam, launched a tourism package of the Nepal Tourism Board in
Chennai on January 28, 2004.
The package,
jointly introduced by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Royal Nepal
Airlines Corporation (RNAC) and the Pasupathi Area Development Trust
(PADT) offers air ticket at Rs. 9,999 from Bangalore
to Kathmandu and back with Pasupathi darshan.
This package will
be in force from 15th February to 31st March 2004, to coincide with
'Maha
Shivaratri'.
Tek Bahadur Dangi,
Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Tourism Board, said the tourist
inflow from India during 2003 had gone up by 33 per cent with an
overall growth rate of 23 per cent. Since Lord Pasupathi is revered
as more than 12 jyothirlingas, the package would benefit all the
tourists from the South.
With the commitment
of the Nepal Government, the tourism inflow is expected to grow at
25 per cent during the current year 2004. Besides spiritual tourism,
Nepal would also offer opportunity for adventure tourists, he said.
