An Antique Jewellery Exhibition was organised by Prince Jewellery, a leading store, in Chennai from July 3 to 13. On show at the Prince Jewellery Store at the Spencer's Plaza, were the traditional South Indian antique jewellery from Chettinad, Travancore, Malabar, Karnataka and from interior places of Rajasthan, specialising in uncut rubies, diamonds and emeralds.
The Prince family had travelled extensively to find beautiful and exceptionally fine antique jewellery, Princeson Jose, the Director of Prince Jewellery, said, adding that some personal collections of his wife were also on display.
Kathija, original ear-rings from Kochi, Mangal Malai gold necklace, a simpler variation of the classical gem-studded mango necklace, Kali Tiru, traditional Chettinad Thali, Valaipinnal, necklace from Kozhikode, traditional hollow, gold anklets and Vanki, a popular jewel in India, were some of the jewellery that were put up at the Exhibition.
Prince started its first
jewellery showroom in 1984 near Panagal Park in Chennai and launched its second showroom in Spencer's Plaza in 2000. A recent addition to the store has been an exclusive platinum counter.
It also includes selections of men's jewellery, birthstone rings and pearls.
