A Light Foundation

Style

Most women only need a light application of foundation. Always remember... less is best. Foundation creates a smooth flawless finish so you can accent your best features!

There are two shades in each compact. Chances are that one of the two is perfect for your skin tone. If not, you can mix the two shades to get a perfect match for your tone.

To mix: Dab sponge lightly in each, concentrating more on lighter or darker colour to match with neck colour (only a small amount is needed).

Turn face and apply foundation to jaw line and lower cheek. Does it match with neck colour? (Note: Always apply foundation downward to minimise impact on facial hair.)

Check colour, apply make-up only in adequate lighting.

If it does not match, remove and dab a little more lighter or darker foundation to sponge (whichever is needed). Try again on jaw line.

Foundation on face should be applied very lightly, so that your skin is visible underneath. Foundation is prettiest when blended into your skin rather than sitting on top of your skin.

When colour is perfect, start covering entire face. The more you work with the foundation on your sponge (without adding more foundation), the smoother, more sheer the foundation effect will be. (Always apply downward, to minimize effect on facial hair.)

Remember to blend all around jaw line, under jaw line, into hairline, on ear lobes (if they are a different colour), around nose, around eye up to the bottom lash line and under the brow.

If one area of the face needs a little more, apply lightly in that area using a dabbing touch (this is called stippling).

You can work a little heavier under eyes, or on problems such as blemishes or birthmarks.

This foundation covers those broken capillaries and blue veins beautifully.

Lightly powder to set foundation.

Proper blending is the makeup artist's secret.

Less is best. Most women tend to use way too much at first. Only use as much as is needed to even out your skin tones and cover problem areas.

If foundation appears to be too heavy:

Use foundation with toning mist.
Spray mist lightly on heavy areas (closing eyes when necessary).
For drier skin, you may mix foundation with moisturizer.
Place a touch of moisturizer in palm of hand, dip sponge lightly in moisturizer, then directly in foundation.
You may need more moisturizer on the dry, patchy areas.
