Tips to pluck eyebrows and select a foundation

Steam your eyebrows with a washcloth before tweezing. Or pluck right after a shower so that the hair comes out more easily.

If the skin is still too sensitive, try applying ice or a numbing toothache medicine before you begin.

Draw an invisible line from the edge of your nose past the outside corner of your eye. Continue the line up to your brow to determine the outside ending point.

The inside of your brow should be lined up with the inside corner of your eye.

The highest part of your brow's arch should be at the outer edge of your iris.

Create thin, hairlike lines with a brow pencil by using quick, short dots and dashes for a more natural look. Or apply a light application of mascara to shape and slightly darken your brow.

Foundation:

Proper application of foundation begins with a moisturizer. Always moisturize before applying foundation or base. It makes it flow smoothly over the skin for a more even and well blended appearance.

Be sure to blend your foundation around the hairline and jaw. Using make-up wedges provide a neat blended line and you don't wind up with fingers full of makeup. However, a certain amount of foundation is wasted as it is soaked into the sponge.

Selection of a proper foundation shade can be difficult. Test foundation along your jaw line. It should blend easily into your natural skin tone. Beware of winter pales. You might find you need a slightly darker shade of makeup for summer.

Amount of coverage is a personal preference. Use cream or long-wearing foundations for heavier coverage. Use lotions or tinted moisturizers for lighter coverage. A tinted moisturizer works well for summer but may not last as long.

Selecting the proper colour is half the battle won. Blend two colours together if you can't find just the right shade.
