Sadguru Gnanananda awards for women
Manava Seva Dharma Samvardhani (MSDS) annually institutes the prestigious Sadguru Gnanananda National Awards for Women for Excellence in Social Work from all over India. Manava Seva Dharma Samvardhani identifies and acclaims women social entrepreneurs who have committed themselves to providing care and shelter to the underprivileged in society.
Sadguru Gnanananda was a Paramahamsa Parivrajaka Acharya, a wandering monk teacher par excellence. He believed that when we bring light, darkness would dissolve on its own and felt that when social work is done with great joy and compassion, we could see the signature of God in such acts. This being the guiding philosophy of Manava Seva Dharma Samvardhani, the awards are named after the great master, Sadguru Gnanananda of Tapovanam, Tamil Nadu. Swami Nityanandagiri of Tapovanam is our chief patron and P N Devarajan is the founder-trustee.
The award carries the following:
A citation elaborating their services and commending the work of the awardee
A purse of Rs 50, 000
A silver plaque
A shawl
MSDS networks with various NGOs from all parts of India and identifies women social entrepreneurs who have dedicated their lives to the welfare of humanity. The awardees are selected after a brief selection process, which includes visits to the NGOs and a brief interaction with them. The awardees for the year are then listed after a series of discussions within the MSDS team and a few well-wishers.
These celebrations are audience centric and have created a platform to enlarge the stakeholders of the development sector. Its success lies in the total participation by the neighbourhood and community thereby triggering the social consciousness of each individual and help in resolving them to live a life of giving, sharing and enjoying all the time. It further motivates many a person to start working in the development sector. This triggered passion in the individual could lead to him/her wanting to be a social entrepreneur and start an organisation that works towards the welfare of society.
