Looking forward to his tenure in Chennai, Innes said, I am delighted to come at a time when the Indo-British Partnership in South India is going from strength to strength. With over 200 joint ventures, the region has become a fantastic example of Indo-UK collaboration. It is great to hear that the new co-Chairman of the Indo-British Partnership, Mr Karan Billimoria hails from South India. I look forward to being involved in many further trade and investment opportunities in the coming months.
Innes added, The British Council and its network of British libraries in South India have encouraged and advised more and more students from the region who are choosing the UK for graduate and post-graduate studies. Our new outsourced visa application centres in Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Cochin, have made it easier and more cost-effective for business and other applicants in the region to obtain their visas. We warmly welcome such visitors to the UK.
Innes succeeds Michael Herridge who left the Post last month on retirement, after four and half years in
Chennai.
