HCL has become the first private
sector in India to come up with its Electro Magnetic Compatibility
(EMC) and Durability test lab. The lab located at Ambattur in
Chennai is also the first to obtain the ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation
from the National Accreditation Board for Calibration and Testing
Laboratories (NABL), India. HCL
offers full life cycle product development services to Global
Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). With this facility, HCL
widens the scope of product design services to cover Electro
Magnetic Interference (EMI)/EMC and a range of environmental testing
services including thermal shock, rain, dust, temperature cycling,
humidity, salt fog tests, vibration test and full CE testing.
The EMI chamber listed under
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) conducts radiated emission
and radiated immunity testing.
The lab provides the best quality
testing services to varied manufacturers across different segments
such as medical devices, consumer electronics, automotive scientific
equipment manufacturers, power, networking and telecom. The HCL lab
also consumes less time for testing the durability of the products.
The lab will reduce the lead time for new product introduction and
provide a comprehensive testing solution.
G. H. Rao, Corporate
Vice-President, Engineering and Research and Development Services,
HCL Technologies Ltd, told the media that the lab is very essential
for the country as such units of infrastructure are very few in
India and these would enable the country to be on par with other
countries. He also said that customers both in India and abroad are
benefited by the EMC and the durability test lab.
K Shivakumar, General Manager,
Global Business Management, HCL Technologies Ltd said that 15 to 18
clients are benefited by the testing lab.
Till now, the testing of various
products was done only by Government organisations like Society for
Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER) and
Electronics Test and Development Centre.
