Setting his foot on fire

Director K. Subash enjoys the not-too-enviable but acceptable status of being a ‘minimum guarantee’ director. He has a good track record in directing movies like ‘Utthama Purushan,’ ‘Kaliyugam,’ ‘Chathriyan,’ ‘Abhimanyu,’ etc. 

Subash is now busy with Love Marriage, a Tamil remake of the Telugu super hit ‘Swayamvaram.’ The story is tailor made and has all the ingredients of love, comedy, family drama to satisfy all levels of filmgoers. Action and comedy have been given that ‘extra’ shade to satisfy the Tamil cinema fan.

The hero of ‘Love Marriage,’ doesn’t believe in marriage; but he falls in love. The director presents his story from a totally different angle and that is the plus point of the movie. 

Ajay plays the lead role. As usual, there is an ‘unusual’ fight sequence that Ajay has braved through. Both his legs catch fire during he stunt scene and Ajay continues to smash the enemies, unmindful of the flames licking his limbs. This will be a pretty long sequence on the screen and will run for 7 minutes. It took three days to complete the shooting of the sequence. ‘It was a thrilling experience to move about with flames in my legs,’ recalls Ajay. ‘I undertook the exercise all the three days,’ he says. Quite a risky experiment indeed.

‘I was so thrilled when stunt-master Super Subbarayan praised me at the end. You have done it so beautifully well, matching the performance with any other big hit action heroes,’ said the stunt-master.’ Ajay beamed with a happy smile. 

Two song sequences have been shot in Switzerland.
