Waiting for
Rajni
Superstar
Rajnikanth is still to make up his mind about his new film. Speculation is that it would be mostly Hari who would be wielding the megaphone.
The film, apparently, will commence in June and be a 2005 Pongal release. A long wait for his fans. Meanwhile, the superstar shuttles between his farm house in Chennai and flat in Bangalore while taking time off to visit temples in Rameswaram and Madurai.

Simbu plays writer
It's an unusual team. Silambarasan and Jyotika. The youngster and the senior heroine come together in a film titled 'Manmathan'. Simbu reportedly plays a serial killer in the film, with an angst against women.
About a dozen Mumbai models make their appearance in the film, playing Simbu's victims. With the film's story penned by Simbu himself, it's quite a different role from the ones we're used to seeing him in.

Vikram is back
Vikram, after his month-long holiday from acting, half of it spent at a health farm in Kerala, is back to work. The actor is now busy shooting for his new film 'Arul'. He pairs with Jyotika in the film.
Wielding the megaphone is director Hari. The Hari-Vikram combination, and the Jyotika-Vikram team have proved successful in earlier films like
'Samy' and 'Dhool' respectively. That is two winning combinations.

Meena goes west
We may not see much of Meena in Tamil films these days. But the pretty actress is busy with her assignments in Malayalam and Kannada. One of her Kannada films to be released shortly is titled
'Swathi Muthu'.
A remake of the Telugu film 'Swathi Muthyam', it has Meena playing the role Radhika played in the original. And paired with her is Sudeep, who is on top of the list of the younger crop of heroes, and who plays the role of the simpleton which Kamal Hassan had played with such elan.

Confident Thangar Bachan
Writer-director-cinematographer Thangar Bachan is confident about his new film 'Thendral'. "A part of the audience loves romance, some love family entertainers, while others love musicals. But 'Thendral' has a family base, romance weaved into it and good music to entertain all sections of the audience." Neat package.
Both Partibhan and Uma are supposed to have given the performances of their life in this film. 'Thendral' seems to be a film worth watching out for.

Laila demands more
Laila may have just one film in hand in Tamil. But she's being wooed by Kannada film-makers. 'Aan Paavam' is being remade in Kannada, with Ravichandran and Jaggesh playing the male leads - roles played by Pandian and Pandiarajan in the original.
Revati had played the role of a mute. Now it's Laila who's being wooed to play that role. And, of course, the actress has quoted quite a high remuneration for it.
'Pithamagan' seems to have given her the confidence!
