Director: Muralikrishna
The success of 'Kadalar Dhinam' was largely due to the superb music by A.R. Rahman. Though debutant Bharani does not match up to the songs in that movie, he comes up with some decent scores. Even though he does not display the genius and variety of Rahman, he does show some promise. 'Yeh asaithadum', by Unnikrishnan and S. Janaki, gives a melodious start to the album. Janaki sings so few songs these days that any new attempt by her is bound to be welcomed by fans of melody.
'Thirudiya Idayathe' is a beautiful ballad by Chitra and Harish. Chitra has not sounded so sweet in a long, long time; Harish, on the other hand, continues the good form he displayed in 'Bharati' and 'Minnale'. 'Kaadhal Pannatheenge' is a proper gaana song by Krishnaraj, who seems to be the only person in Kollywood to have the capacity to take over from Deva in singing this genre. 'Dhumtakku' is a holi song by Krishnaraj, Malgudi Shubha and Sumithra. 'Thirumba, thirumba', by Unnikrishnan and Harini, and 'Thuli, thuliyai', by Hariharan and Swarnalatha, are the other melodious numbers. A good first attempt by Bharani. Venky |
