Director: Bharatiraja
It is said that 'Kadal Pookal' is based on the Malayalam classic 'Chemeen', which had soulful music by the Hindi music legend, Ravi. In comparison, Deva doesn't exactly score immortal numbers, though the songs are melodious. The album begins with the almost anthemic 'Alai, alai', by Unnimenon, Shrinivas and Swarnalatha. You can almost feel the waves lapping up on the beach and envision fishermen going on their catamarans into the sea, so full of life is this song.
Another love song 'Siluvaikale', by Unnikrishnan and Anuradha Sriram, follows. Vairamuthu adds some passion with a few erotic lines. 'Ogama Ogama', by Malayasia Vasudevan and Ganga, is a folk song, typical to the fishing community. There is another version of the song on Side `B' with Deva himself taking to the mike. A lovely sea breeze by Deva. Venky |
