Artist: Whitney Houston
Whitney Houston has six Grammy Awards lined up at home. She has spent 15 years with Arista records. Nearly two dozen Houston tracks have made it to the R&B Top 40 charts in the past decade and a half. 'The Greatest Hits' then doesn't come as a very big surprise, does it?
The 36-track two-disc ('Cool Down' and 'Throw Down') compilation features more than two hours of Whitney Houston. 'Cool Down' includes classic Houston ballads such as "Greatest Love Of All", "All The Man That I Need", and "I Will Always Love You". 'Throw Down,' on the other hand, is club land...a world of remixes and dance acts: Jellybean & David Morales's mix of "Love Will Save The Day", the Dronez's mix of "I'm Your Baby Tonight", and Junior Vasquez's mix of "How Will I
Know".
Three newly recorded duets also feature in the compilation: "Same Script, Different Cast" with Deborah Cox, the Metro mix of "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" with Enrique Iglesias (the original version
appeared on Iglesias' album "Enrique"), and "If I Told You That" with George Michael (the music video featuring Houston & Michael is playing on music channels now).
However, most Houston and R&B fans are sure to have one complaint: too many remixes, too few original versions. Where, for instance, are the classic original versions of "How Will I Know", "I'm Your Baby
Tonight", "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" and "I'm Every Woman"? This notwithstanding, Houston's best is a must buy
for R&B addicts.
