Director: J. Suresh
'Ovvoru paadalilum' gives a nice start to the album, thanks largely to the good work done by Unnikrishnan. He lends some respectability to the run-of-the-mill tabla-dholak score. Vairamuthu's lyrics are also impressive. A melancholic version of the song is added on the flip side.
'Kaathal enbathu thoongum mrugam' is the pick of the album. In its intensity (even though it is fast-paced), it reminds you of Hariharan's work in 'Uyire' from 'Bombay'. Might be because the songs are shot in similar locales - on the seashore with a fort in the background. Parts of the song are reminiscent of 'Hai Rama' by Rahman for 'Rangeela' but Vairamuthu deserves praise again for his lyrics. 'Chayya chakka...chamma chakka' has almost the same score as 'Ovvoru paadalilum' and is a group song by S.P. Balasubramaniam, Krishnaraj and Deepika. Madhavan's first movie in Tamil 'Alai Payuthe' and third, 'Minnale' have good songs but unfortunately his second, 'Ennavale', was a big letdown. Venky |
