Divine melodies on 'MOTHER'

Anuradha Ramanan, a popular and prolific writer, is well known among the readers for her novels and short stories. Her writings are mostly on the day-to-day happenings in one's life. Her 'Sirai' which was made into a film, was widely talked about during that period.

Apart from writing short stories and novels, Anuradha Ramanan had also attempted at writing verses based on religion. The divine flowers that blossomed inside her were 'FOR HIS FEET ONLY'. It was something personal, the unsung melodies of her soul.

In 1996, she started writing an 'Andhadhi' on Bhagwan Sree Sathya Sai Baba of Puttabharthi in a casual manner, without giving it serious thought. Due to unavoidable circumstances, the Andhadhi was left unfinished. But Baba wearing a white robe, appeared in her dream in a flash and all he asked was a question, "Is that all?"

The next day, when she happened to open the note book in which she had scribbled the incomplete verses, she understood the meaning of his question. She started writing again. The words which sprouted from her heart on their own were beaded into a golden thread called Sathya Sai and she completed the Andhadhi with his blessings. For the first time, another dimension of her writing prowess was revealed to the outside world by his divine grace.

Recently, she released an audio cassette through Churchill Pandyan's 'Utsav Music', in which she has composed songs in a letter format to Pondicherry Sree Aravindha Annai. Dr M Balamurali Krishna has rendered the songs in his inimitable style.

On Dec 16th (2003), her album 'Anbaana Annaikku' was released in a function at Savera Hotel. Nina Reddy, the Director of Savera Hotel, lighted the lamp, which was followed by a dance recital by Radhika Surjith and her students. The special feature of this recital was that the dancers performed to the songs rendered in the album.

Chitra Visveswaran, Dr Saraswathi, Actress Sukanya, Manu, Ganesh-Kumaresh, Veena Jayanthi, Narmadha, Kavignar Vaali, noted Music critic Subbudu, Balamurali Krishna, Playback singer S P Balasubramanyam, singer Lakshmi Rangarajan, writer Subha and Manjula Ramesh were the eminent personalities who participated in the function.

The picture that was painted by the artist Maniyam selvan for the cassette's exterior, adorned the stage in a magnified proportion, which attracted the audience in a big way.

One can say that each song rendered by Balamurali Krishna caressed the listeners, especially the song "Nilakadhir Polave' which transported them to a state of divine bliss.

The songs 'Ullam urugi paduvom', 'malar sattrinan', Swarnamaya padhamidhu', 'sree Aravindha Annai' and 'Aedhu vendum' will be oft heard at homes of Annai's devotees for sure.

Balamurali's lilting voice, Anuradha's simple verses and Balasai's Melodious music move listeners' hearts and take them to the lotus feet of Annai herself.

Flowers are Annai's favourites. That the poetical flower 'Anbaana Annaikku' by Anuradha Ramanan will spread its fragrance throughout the world, is definite.
