Oothukadu Jayanthi
The
Oothukadu Venkatakavi Jayanthi was held in Chennai on September 12 at the
Rasika Ranjani Sabha in Mylapore.
The Tamil Nadu Governor, P S
Ramamohan Rao, lent lustre to the function by his participation as the Chief
Guest.
He released a CD of
Venkatakavi's Saptha Rathna Songs produced by Ravikiran. V V Sundaram received
the first copy.
The Governor's wife, P Uma
Rao, lighted the traditional lamp.
P A Ramiah, Secretary of the
Tamil Nadu Government's Culture Department and V T Gopalan, Additional
Solicitor-General of India, were among those who participated.
The
speeches were followed by a vocal concert of Savita Narasimhan, accompanied by
Charumathi Raghuraman and R Sankar Narayanan.
