Veeralakshmi', the blockbuster movie that caught much media attention during its release, comes on the small screen for the first time through Vijay TV November 30.

'Kannathil Muthamittaal' with Madhavan and so on, has performed the lead role in this real life-based movie 'Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi’. She, in fact, bagged the Best Actress Award in the 22nd Cinema Express Awards for her portrayal in Maniratnam’s ‘Kannathil

In 'Kovilpatti
Veeralakshmi', she does the role of a lifetime as ‘an innocent Dalit woman', Veeralaksmi, who takes on the law and the might of a caste-dominated society in the village of Kovilpatti with her willpower and the much-needed weapon in her hand to fight for her rights and others too. 'Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi' is more like the south's answer to Shekhar Kapoor's 'Bandit Queen'.
This out-and-out Simran film, which hit an emotional high with the urban and rural public of Tamil Nadu during its release in July 2003, boasts of a success story in box office with the press and the public alike for its gripping story line. Simran’s portrayal of the oppressed Dalit woman, who fights against her tormentors, demands wide appreciation for its heart-wrenching, realistic nature!
