`Meeting
of the String with the Wind’, a special jugalbandi concert by
violinist M Nandini and flautist Ronu Majumdar, will be performed on
New Year's Eve at Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium for Brahma Gana Sabha
at 6.30 p.m.'Meeting of the String with the Wind' will be
featuring the internationally renowned two artistes from two
different musical cultures.
This concert is being specially performed to welcome the New Year
using the two ancient classical systems of Indian Music – Carnatic
and Hindustani.
Born into an illustrious family of musicians, Nandini (one of the
popular violin sisters M Lalitha and M Nandini), the contemporary
torch bearer of the V Lakshminarayana tradition of music, stands
today amongst the most outstanding and sought after violinists in
the Carnatic music genre.
Ronu
Majumdar, belonging to the Maihar Gharana, is India’s ace flautist.
His versatility with the artistic medium is an inspiration to his
numerous followers.
Both these artistes are synonymous with their instruments and it
will be a treat to watch them perform live for the first time in
Chennai.
They will be accompanied by Tanjore R. Kumar on the mridangam,
Viswanath Nakod, on the tabla and H Prasanna on the ghatam.
