Serendipity Music Productions (SMP) launched 'Carnatic on Keyboard' (Vol 2), the second music album of the 9-year-old prodigy,
K Sathyanarayanan, at a function in Chennai on June 23, 2004.
SMP, a new-age music production house. has been established with the objective of taking Indian music closer to the music enthusiasts in India and abroad. Towards this. SMP has been promoting artists with calibre and providing them a platform to showcase their talents to audience far & wide, its spokesman said.
The function was held at the Mylapore Fine Arts Club, Mylapore. Ganesh (of the Ganesh-Kumaresh violin duo), Nalli N Kupuswami Chetti. 'Abaswaram' Ramjh.and Dr.T.P.Naidoo (Director. Indian Academy of South Africa) were the guests of honour. The launch function was followed by a live performance of Carnatic music on the keyboard by
Sathyanarayanan.
The album is unique as it attempts to bring out the intricacies of Carnatic Music on Keyboard,.though a Western instrument. This album features the alongside renowned violinist, Embar S Kannan,. Mannargudi Easwaran on the mridangam and S.Karthick on the ghatam. While all the three accompanying artistes are accomplished musicians having established themselves in the field of classical music,.Sathyanarayanan has merely started his journey.
The album features popular krltis like Entharo Mahanubhavulu (Pancharathna krithi of Saint Thyagaraja), Seethamma Maayamma (Raagam - Vasantha), Saamaja Varagamana (Hindholam). Vasudevayini (Kalyani). Rajaji's Kurai Onrum Illai (Raagamalika), Enna Thavam Seithanai (Kaapi) and Lalgudi Jayaraman's Thillana (Desh).
