The Azhagi contest
 Vijay TV launched a unique show Azhagi on December 20 - a unique reality show, hunting for the ideal Tamil woman, not from a beauty pageant perspective but in terms of her character and individuality. The basic essence was 'beauty is not just skin deep but also in terms of character and demeanour'.
The true Azhagi is compassionate yet assertive, respectful yet rational, modern yet steeped in Tamizh tradition, cultured, attractive yet modest. In short, the hunt is not just a beautiful girl but for a beautiful person.
 From more than 400 applicants all over Tamil Nadu, 20 girls would be short-listed and evaluated based on defined parameters. While they live together during this period, they are put through mock situations and are analysed based on their abilities and behaviour. Finally, the judges crown one contestant as the
Azhagi.
The contestants will be evaluated in terms of personal care, arts, culture & tradition, human relationships, house keeping, beauty & fashion.
The show was aired from Monday to Thursday between 8.30-9 p.m. from December 20, on Vijay TV.
