 Reality TV-Dish TV tie-up
Extending the reach of its popular Reality TV channel, Zone Vision has signed a distribution agreement with ASC Enterprises Limited in India. Under the terms of the agreement, ASC will receive exclusive rights to distribute the channel on its DTH platform, Dish TV, in India and non-exclusive rights for Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and The Maldives. The announcement was made by Kamlesh Patel, chief financial officer, Zone Vision.
Dish TV, a part of the Essel Group, is India's first Direct-to-Home entertainment (DTH) service that broadcasts an array of programmes, from a high-powered satellite straight to homes and also gives its subscribers and consumers a wide choice of programming. Dish TV’s growing subscription base and its sophisticated broadband technology, will help enhance the penetration of Reality TV in India.
Speaking about the strategic tie-up, Kamlesh Patel said, "With the continued development and improvement of the cable and satellite infrastructure in India and throughout the adjoining region, this market has become an important part of our overall global strategy. ASC Enterprises is at the forefront of this change and have become pioneers in the television industry there. After our successful partnership with Zee-Turner, we are absolutely delighted at extending our distribution now to Dish TV.”
Speaking on the occasion, Punit Goenka, chief executive officer, ASC Enterprises, said, “We are pleased to have signed up with Zone Vision for carriage of Reality TV on Dish TV.”
Reality TV is a 24-hour channel delivering non-stop insight into people’s lives without actors, special effects or rehearsed material. Reality TV tells the stories of real people in real situations and shows events as they actually happened. The channel entered India in 2003 and in this short span of time the channel has crossed a viewership of 15 million households across the country. Reality TV is successfully reaching all corners of the globe, providing thrills, spills and unbeatable round the clock entertainment value 365 days of the year.
ASC Enterprises Limited, an Essel Group company, is the first and the only private sector company till date to have been issued a licence by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, for provision of DTH television services to consumer households.
Dish TV is DTH broadcast of TV channels directly to homes using Ku band transponders and has been launched in October 2003. Dish TV promises to offer the best mix of existing channels, exclusive international channels and premium content channels.
Dish TV currently offers more than 80 channels on its platform through the uplinking facility set up at Noida.
