Joggers' Park is a park alive with all sorts of people, some shedding their kilos, others jogging their blues away, and others there just to eye the colourful scenario around. The new entrant to the park is the retired 60 plus Justice Chatterjee, an honourable, upright man with a loving family and a place in society, with not a blot on his 40 year career. The director goes a little overboard by giving him a star status, the justice signing autographs, getting recognised everywhere, people stopping to stare at him and noticing his every action, like he was a superstar!
Chatterjee is waylaid by the charming, lively, vibrant Jenny, a part-time model, dancer and an executive at a hotel. Jenny is single, aggressive, an extrovert, with a string of relationships behind her, living life on her own terms. While Chatterjee is initially curt with her, her exuberance slowly gets to him, and he finds himself drawn to her, with new feelings disturbing him. Jenny always surrounded by admirers, to her surprise finds herself also drawn to the 60 plus man. The dilemmas, the heart burns and the final reckoning form the rest, with the director opting for a safe, non-controversial, 'honourable' ending.
Produced by Subhash Ghai and directed by the late Anant Balani, the film is worth watching. An undercurrent of melancholy and sadness is felt throughout the film, for one can sense that whichever way the ending goes, it will cause its share of heartburns!
It's a feel good film, different in scripting and narration from the routine ones, taking a light hearted look at a slice of life, normally not ventured into by film makers. Victor Bannerjee is perfectly cast as the dignified Chatterjee, and Perizaad Zorabian fits in beautifully as Jenny, her exuberance reaching out to you.
