| Khushbu - vivacious and charming |
Khushbu has donned make-up, since she was a kid. And it has been a long journey for her to achieve the enviable position she has reached in Tamil films. She has just turned 31 and is not embarrassed to shout it out from the rooftop. Her nonchalance is understandable. For, Khushbu has nothing to fear. Age, time and motherhood hardly seems to touch her; her vivaciousness, her charm and her tremendous fan following not a bit diminished by the passage of time. Here's a quick interview with the actress.
Q: On your long career span…
K: I've been in front of the camera since I was a kid. Time passed by so quickly and I was so immersed in my career that I never knew how time passed. Only today I was telling my mom, "Mom, I've turned thirty-one!" Some actresses may be embarrassed by the age-factor. But I have no such inhibitions in telling aloud my age!
Q: About the temple they have built for you…
K: It is in Trichy, though I haven't seen it myself. After I got married to Sunder I got this letter from my fans there, informing me that they have kept his photo too in the temple. It overwhelms me when I think of the effect we artistes have on our fans.
Q: Your Kannada film ‘Aunty Preetise’ seems to be a big hit in Karnataka…
K: It was a remake of a Telugu film 'Aunty' and Jayasudha had played the central role in the original. When they were casting for the Kannada version, the producer and director thought that I would fit the role. The film had some release problems, since no distributors came forward to buy it. The producer released it at his own risk. Now I'm happy that he's making money out of it.
Q: What happened to 'Koteeswari' that you were supposed to anchor? Did the fall in rating of 'Koteeswaran' affect its telecast?
K: Not at all! 'Koteeswari' is definitely in the pipeline. It is just that I have my hands full with acting assignments and this film I'm planning to produce. I'm launching my own production banner. Prashanth will be the hero. I am scouting around Mumbai for a suitable heroine. With Sunder in the house, I don't have to search for a new director.
Q: About the new films you've signed…
K: I've got quite a few films on hand. There's one with Karthik as the hero and another with Vijaykant. There's this interesting film I've signed with Director Jayadevi, where singer Hariharan is also acting. I'm looking forward to it.
