Chennai-based Parveen Travels Pvt Ltd., which is celebrating its silver jubilee this year, has planned to put up a star hotel with 60 rooms on the Old Mamallapuram Road along the IT corridor at an investment of Rs 8
crore.
The group is pushing for ISO accreditation. An association with foreign travel operators like Greyhound Lines is also on the cards. A body-building unit to build cargo containers in collaboration with international coach builders is also planned. Towards this purpose, 10 acres of land has been allocated at Sriperumbudur.
Parveen Travels Pvt Ltd is just entering the 25th year of professional service in the tourism industry. The company has also won the National Tourism Award in the category of Tourist Transport Operators.
The transport company was started by its late chairman, Allah Baksh, and was converted into a travel company in 1980. Beginning with a tourist taxi, its turnover today stands at Rs 26 crore with assets of Rs 14 crore; the total mileage covered by its 260 coaches per day is 65,000 km, carrying 14,200 passengers.

To mark the silver jubilee celebrations, the company has announced a 25 per cent discount in fares to privilege cardholders on routes to Kodaikanal till March 31, 2005. Social touch
The welfare arm of the company offers free travel to families of Kargil war victims. The company has contributed over Rs 2 lakh towards tsunamai relief. The cheque was handed over to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. It has provided 22 coaches for movement of NGOs to the tsunami- affected areas free of cost (worth Rs 3 lakh).
