India's largest and the world's 4th largest spirits marketer, UB Group Spirits Division, recently launched its best-selling premium
whisky, Signature, in Tamil Nadu. Signature, the new sign of success, has grown by 33 per cent in 2003-04, capturing 23 per cent
market share in the 9.5 million cases all-India premium whisky civil segment.
Signature, popular amongst 28-38-year-olds, young and contemporary consumers, will now be rolled out in Tamil Nadu markets in three pack variants. While the Nip will be priced at Rs 122 at the retail level, the Pint and the Quart will be priced at Rs 246 and Rs 489.
Launching the product, chief operating officer (COO) - regional profit centre (RPC), south, P A B Sargunar, said, "We are happy to bring one of our most premium whisky brands to consumers in Tamil Nadu. Since its launch in 1994, Signature has consistently grown garnering more market share each year. We have been successful in not only creating a high brand recall for the brand but also translating it into sales."
Sharing details about the brand's success, Sargunar, said, "Having established itself in the premium
whisky category, Signature is now looking at strengthening its position in the key markets and also expanding its presence to other critical markets. The brand's recent entry into Canteen Stores Department (CSD) and now its entry into Tamil Nadu is representative of that intent. In Tamil Nadu, Signature is entering the super premium segment. We aim to garner a close to 30 per cent of the segment by the end of this financial year."
Signature Whisky is painstakingly blended with the choicest pure Scotch whiskies and distinctive malts, for consumers who can appreciate the finer flavour, he added.
The brand will be available in the Tamil Nadu market in elegant octagonal bottles designed by renowned international design house Claessens International.
