 Downtown -- the veggie Bar
 What has vegetarianism got to do with a Bar, some may ask. For the promoters and managers of Days Inn Deccan Plaza, the hotel on Royapettah High Road (replacing the erstwhile Ajanta hotel), the new establishment is a stand alone vegetarian hotel. And even the watering hole has to have vegetarian dishes!
Downtown, the bar which opened on July 6, 2005, "is a place that reverberates with youthful energy even after the city has resigned to bed. It's a place that lets the spirit soar high even while allowing you to let your hair down. It's a place that's hip, hot and happening, and transcends the boundaries of imagination", says A Christopher, manager, operations.
From rollicking rock music to pleasant pop melodies, the bar with cosy ambience can hold 60 persons who can tiptoe on its Wood-Glass-Tile floors (no dance, please).
The solos and small-screen bugs could take comfort in the big Plasma screen.
"The bar believes in serving healthy, high-protein snacks, which have high-fibre content too", says D Charles Fabian, executive assistant manager.
As a curtain-raiser, the opening offer is One to One ( on selected brands) for a limited period. What's better, one could look forward to cheerful times at 20% off everyday, Happy Hours between 12 noon and 6 pm.
Raising a toast to the masters of fine spirits, the expert bartenders allow connoisseurs to plunge into one of the many heady cocktails & Mocktails.
The vegetarian side-dishes are a big hit, say Christopher and Charles Fabian. For pure vegetarians, in particular, the veggie dishes are a big attraction. Many Jains therefore make a beeline to ths watering hole. The vegetarian buffet lunch and dinner, priced at Rs 165, are also popular, they add, especially since a chef from Rajasthan prepares tasty veggie dishes.
The hotel has plans to put up a Health Centre besides a Pub on the 9th floor. The Pub will have a dance floor, and hopefully, provide a good sea-view.
