Veg Mela with 1,500 dishes
Karuna International, Chennai Kendra and Lions Clubs International - District 324 A 5 are jointly organising a 'Vegetarian Mela' of 1,500 vegetarian dishes on November 18,
2006, to create an awareness that 'Vegetarianism can be our way of life'. The students are putting together a 'collage' to create awareness that every bit of waste material
can be utilised to create something new. The topic is 'Karuna Values' to emphasise and inculcate these values in the minds of children.
Over 500 students and 300 teachers are participating in the mela from different schools of Chennai including the Sri Badal Chand Sayarchand Chordia Jain Vidyalaya,
Velaankanni Primary School, Telugu Corporation School, Vivekananda
Vidyalaya, Chitlapakkam, Abdul Hakkim Hindu Muslim High School, Ganeshibai Galada Girls Higher
Secondary School, Saraswathi Matriculation School, Anderson Rajagopal Girls Higher
Secondary School, Muthialpet Boys Higher Secondary School , Mangi Kanwar Anraj
Chordia Jain Primary School, Terapanth Jain Vidyalaya, Venugopal Vidyalaya, L M
Dadha Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Jaya Jaya Shankara International School,
Sathya Sai Primary School, K B J Gurukulam.
The mela will be held at 'Shree Hall', Burkit Toad, T Nagar, Chennai 600 017, from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Lions International Dist 324 A5 and Lion Shivakumar, zone chairperson
District 324 A 5, are the major sponsors of the event.
