Radisson GRT Hotel wins

The hotel wins Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific - ‘Hotel of the year’ award, ‘Employee of the Year’ award and the CHAP President’s award.

Vikram Cotah, general manager, Radisson GRT Hotel, received the Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific ‘Hotel of the Year’ award from Paul Kirwin, president, Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific, at the recently concluded Brand Conference at Shanghai.

Radisson GRT Hotel is the first Indian Radisson property to win the ‘hotel of the year’ award. On receiving the award, Cotah said, "We are extremely proud to have received this recognition amongst all the Carlson Hotels in the Asia Pacific region. We would not have been able to achieve this without the support of the owners, the employees and our guests. This achievement has placed a greater responsibility on us to raise the bar and excel further."

The hotel also received the President’s award. This award is given to the hotels who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to guest service, product quality and a positive work environment.

Criteria for the Hotel of the Year Award:

  • President’s Award

  • Financial performance

  • ADR growth / Revpar growth

  • Growth in operating profit

  • Compliance with Radisson critical brand standards

  • Compliance with technology requirements of Radisson Brand

  • Signage, use of logo, advertising and promotional material compliance.

Participation in brand programmes

  • Criteria for the President’s Award:

  • Exception commitment to guest service (measured by guest satisfaction index)

  • Product quality (measured by the quality assurance evaluated by Director Operations and Brand Services, Asia Pacific)

  • Positive and effective work environment with a team of employees who deliver total guest satisfaction (measured by Gallop employee engagement survey)

The hotel has been recommended for the certification of ISO 22000 for Food Safety Systems. Radisson GRT Hotel is the first Indian hotel to receive this certification. 

The hotel also bagged the Employee of the Year award. Julian Jesudas, Sr Steward of the Food and Beverage department, received the award from Paul Kirwin, President, Carlson Hotel Asia Pacific, during the Brand Conference in Shanghai.

This award was based on the following criteria:

  • Team member who has consistently:

  • Provided genuine hospitality by exceeding guest expectations.

  • Demonstrated a 'Yes, I Can' service and team attitude.

  • Supported the team through warmth, friendliness and genuine caring.

  • Presented a professional appearance at all times.

  • Provided exceptional support, service on effort in a particular event.

  • Everyday attendance and punctuality during the year.

  • 9 months or more of Carlson employment.

Andrew Hickey, Director - Operations and Brand Services, Radisson International, said in Chennai, "There has been a really dynamic improvement in the hotel (Radisson GRT) over the past few years in terms of quality, strive and drive."

GRT Radisson is the first Radisson property in the Asia Pacific region to win three awards in one year.

The hotel first opened its doors in 1999 and has already carved a niche in the premium segment in Chennai. The Radisson GRT boasts of 101 well-appointed rooms including eight contemporary suites and state-of-the-art banquet facilities. All the hotel’s rooms have instant Internet connectivity. Culinary diversions include The Garden Café, a 24-hour all-day dining restaurant that overlooks the pool and Radisson’s signature restaurant - The Great Kebab Factory, which is best known for kebabs and Indian breads. The Gallop Bar is a theme bar where the décor is reminiscent of a polo player’s watering hole.
