J Hotels signs with Singapore company
The Accord Metropolitan Hospitality, Singapore, has signed up with J Hotels Pvt Ltd, for the latest international styled hotel in Chennai. The Accord now takes over the management of the Traders Hotel on G N Chetty Road in T Nagar, replacing Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts at the Traders Hotel on G N Chetty Road in
Chennai.
J Hotels Pvt Ltd is a company owned by Sri Lakshmi Ammal Group, a leading business house in south India having interests in the leather industry, healthcare, education, investments and IT.
The group now expands to the hospitality industry with the establishment of the latest hotel of international standard in Chennai, which has 200 rooms with 162 keys comprising of superior rooms, deluxe rooms, premier rooms, studio apartments, executive suites and a presidential suite, three restaurants and a bar, swimming pool, health club, fine function space and business
centre.
As a part of its mega expansion plans, prime land in Chennai for its second hotel and in Pondicherry have been identified and purchased and these properties shall be ready to welcome its first guest in 24-30 months. Also, the group is actively
exploring avenues in key metros like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Calcutta and Coimbatore and is in an advanced stage of negotiating investment in a hotel in an upscale international location, its spokesman said.
The property, owned by J Hotels Ltd, has been designed and built to suit the needs of the discerning traveller. The concepts of the hotel were provided by world leading architects Yoshino Consultants, Los Angeles, US, and Interior designers, Tom Callato of Singapore with the local support of Eskay Design, Chennai, and Fab Interiors, Delhi.
The hotel was then entrusted to Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts to bring in their expertise in international marketing and to initiate and stabilise the operation. Traders Hotel Chennai threw its doors open to guests in April 2005.
Having achieved this principle objective, J Hotels, as previously determined, sought a franchise agreement with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts that would better suit its long-term business needs. Since Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts do not offer such arrangements, a joint decision has been made to part ways, after frank and thoughtful discussions, its spokesman said.
J Hotels Ltd has now signed up an agreement with the Singapore-based company 'The Accord Metropolitan Hospitality Pte Ltd'. The Accord Metropolitan Hospitality group comprises seasoned and highly respected hospitality professionals who will lend their support, supervision and operational guidelines and international marketing to enable the hotel offer superior experiences to all its guests.
The hotel will be called the 'The Accord Metropolitan',
Chennai.
The group has now entrusted the management of the hotel to an asset management company and a chosen team of professionals headed by P J Mammen - executive director, who, with their inherited skill sets that conform to international hotel operational standards will be instrumental in positioning this hotel amongst the best in the industry and drive the expansion plans of the group.
The Accord Metropolitan, Chennai, thanked its patrons, team members and vendors for their support and said it looked forward to similar such support in time to come. It also appreciated the efforts of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.
