J S Shekar, executive director, Sinar Jernih India Pvt Ltd, said, “Sinar Jernih has concentrated strategically on the hospitality and hospital segment where benchmarked environment standards are very critical. We find immense potential in cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad for corporate segment services and plan to bring in facility and environment management services like engineering, laundry along with environmental training programmes shortly to increase our business prospects. Our strength has always been our process and people management. Sinar Jernih strongly believes in delivering quality services through people where technology is only a tool in the process.”

Jamal Surani, chief operating officer, Sinar Jernih Sdn Bhd, Malaysia, said, “We have identified India as one of the key markets as there is a good potential for growth and considering the fact that there are no professional players in this segment. It is interesting to note that out of the three countries we operate, our Indian operations have registered the fastest growth. We also plan to grow at the current speed and establish ourselves as a quality services provider for the hospitality and the corporate segments by consistently investing in training, quality manpower and infrastructure in India.”

Sinar Jernih will be setting up a training centre in Chennai to offer specialised training to match international standards. The Indian operations currently have 1,400 people and there are plans to add 1,500 persons by the end of 2005.

Sinar Jernih Group currently has its operations in Malaysia, Brunei, India and Sri Lanka. With a turnover of MR 87.5 million, Sinar Jernih currently manages over 288 projects across four countries with a staff strength of 5,500-plus.
