 Paramount Airways ups presence in south
Paramount Airways, promoted by the Paramount Group, a leading textile manufacturer based in Madurai, has added yet another jewel to its crown, by catering to the Chennai-Madurai route effective April 11, 2006. With the arrival of the second aircraft, the airline will also expand to other southern cities, Bangalore and Hyderabad, operational April 19, 2006, said its managing director, N Thiagarajan, in
Chennai.
Paramount airlines is the first airline in India to use the new generation Embraer 170/190 series of aircraft, he said, pointing out that the aircraft is a 70-seat, all-business class service. It would step up its aircraft fleet to 20 in a few months, he added.
Thiagarajan said, "Paramount airlines started it first flight with the Chennai-Coimbatore route and now has moved on, within a span of six months, to connect other major metros and non-metros. Being an airline from Tamil Nadu, we aspire to strengthen our presence in the south before moving on to other states. The new route fares are very attractive, the Chennai-Bangalore fares starting from Rs 1,299 and Chennai-Hyderabad from Rs 1,999.
The Paramount experience starts at the time of booking the ticket. The passengers can choose their seats and the type of meal at the time of booking. The airline has also introduced the web check-in facility. With this, the passenger can print their boarding cards at the time of booking their tickets online. Paramount is the second airline to introduce this facility in the country.
Another passenger delight factor that would be added to the bouquet of services would be the in-flight magazine, Thiagarajan said. This will be on board from May 2006 and would extend the promise of a different experience. Paramount would offer 50 per cent discount to all disabled passengers. Travel for disabled children below 12 years of age will be free in all the flights, he added.
The airline aims at providing world-class designer products and unparalled comforts by ensuring efficient operations, punctuality and sustained returns to the investors; travel-related package covering air transportation, local ground transportation at the destination and hotel accommodation at concessional rates. Paramount is the only airline to provide an all-business class service, Thiagarajan said, adding that this comes at a price lower than the economy fares of other flights.
Paramount Airways intends to be the first choice for business travellers by offering full business class services at extremely affordable fares lower than the normal economy class fares of other airlines, he said, pointing out that there were no middle seats. The seat pitch is most generous and a 6-foot tall passenger would easily find adequate leg room. Offering a very luxurious recline, the seats are covered with high quality of dual tone of ultra leather material. They also have a movable headrest for enhanced comfort.
The new generation Embraer 170/175 aircraft chosen by Paramount is one of the most advanced modern jets ever made, translating into exceptional passenger safety. They have state-of-the-art glass cockpit panels with full color LCD displays and are completely off-wire system, offering excellent field performance and outstanding economics, Thiagarajan added.
With the advent of Paramount, passengers have experienced an upgrade from cramped seats, typical airline food, in-flight boredom and a crowded airport lounge, Thiagarajan said. The aircraft has three spacious galleys that provide adequate room for preparing and serving a full three gourmet meal for the passengers. For a flight of 70 passengers, four cabin crew cater to the passengers needs. The ratio of cabin crew to passengers is among the highest in the world, translating to exceptional in-flight service and personalised individual attention, Thiagarajan added.
