The WHO collaborating centre for diabetes in India – M V
Hospital for Diabetes & Diabetes Research Centre - is launching
a campaign on prevention of childhood obesity and diabetes.
The M V Hospital for Diabetes & Diabetes Research Centre,
Royapuram, Chennai, has planned the launched the campaign to
mark World Diabetes Day - 2007 on Sunday, November 11, 2007. A
first-of-its-kind manual on obesity and guidelines on prevention
of obesity among children was also released.
The chief guest, Thangam Thennarasu, Tamil
Nadu Minister for Education, released the Manual on Childhood
Obesity.
Dr Vijay Viswanathan, managing director of M V Hospital for
Diabetes & Diabetes Research Centre, declared the campaign
initiatives.
The awareness campaign among children was kicked off the same
day with an interesting thematic poster competition titled 'My
understanding of Obesity & Diabetes' for school children from
nearly 20 city schools.
