Kannan B R J is an Interventional and Paediatric Cardiologist
working for Vadamalayan Hospitals, Chokkukulam, Madurai. He is
an MBBS from Madurai Medical College, Madurai, and MD from the
Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research,
Chandigarh. He got his DM degree from subspecialty board in
Cardiology, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences
and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram.
He holds a diploma from the National Board in Cardiology (DNB),
National Board of Examinations, Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare, Government of India.
He underwent fellowship in paediatric cardiology from Amrita
Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Elammakkara,
Kochi.
Dr Kannan is currently Commonwealth Fellow, Department of
Cardiology, Guy's and St Thomas Hospital, London, England.
A native of Madurai, the cardiologist had various stints as
resident in paeditrics and cardiology in various institutions.
He was clinical assitant professor in paediatric cardiology at
Amrit Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Kochi.
He has received the Rajkumar Amrit Kaur Medal for anatomy,
Thirumalai Medical Charity Medal for ophthalmology, Thangammal
Memorial Medal for medicine, Association of Physicians of India
Medal for medicine and the Commonwealth fellowship award for
overseas training in paediatric cardiology.
He has been the principal investigator and co-investigator for
various projects in the treatment of hypertension in children,
ICMR project, and a study conducted by Pfizer.
He has 17 work-related publications to his credit and has
delivered lectures all over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, in Mumbai,
Bangalore and Colombo, Sri Lanka.
He has so far conducted nine workshops/conferences.
He is married to Usha Nandini and is the father of 8-year-old
Aparajith.
