Ingredients
6 raw bananas
¾ tsp. red pepper
¾ tsp. garam masala
1½ slices bread
Little milk to soak the bread
50 gms finely cut onions
25 gms finely cut ginger
2 finely cut green chillies
1½ tsp. ground coriander seeds
1½ tsp. salt
50 gms or 10 tsps. curd
1 desp. finely cut coriander leaves
Ghee (clarified butter)for shallow frying.
120 gms sour cream or 30 gms curd + 80 gms regular cream
Ingredients for sprinkling
¼ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. red pepper
¼ tsp. garam masala
1 tbsp. chopped coriander leaves.
Method
Boil the raw bananas with skin in salted boiling water, till they are soft or pressure
cook for 10 mts. Remove the skin and mash the bananas finely. Soak the slices of bread in
milk and chop the onions, ginger, green chillies and coriander leaves very fine. Mix these
with the mashed bananas. Then add soaked bread, salt, red pepper, garam
masala, ground
coriander and the curd.
Knead the mixture for 5 minutes. Divide the mixture between 12 to 16 equal
parts. Shape them into flat round cakes. Fry them in lightly heated oil, till they turn
brown. Place in baking dish, pour sour cream over them and sprinkle salt, red pepper,
coriander leaves and garam masala. Bake in a moderately hot oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit
temperature, till a crust is formed on the top.
Serve with salad or with hot baked vegetables.
