After all the spicy Dilli Ka Khana and the Kolkota specialities, Hotel Chola Sheraton brings to you, a very special "Cuban Season", from 14th Dec. till 24th December 2002, adding to the festivity of the season. Lady Chef Tanya, flown all the way from Cuba, is here to set all your
palates afire by bringing in flavours from the land of coconut palms!
Assumption is that the Cuban meal tastes similar to Mexican food. As a matter of fact, Cuban recipes share spices and techniques in common with Spanish cooking, not Mexican, with a little Caribbean thrown in for flair and flavour. Fresh vegetables, meats, and herbs are a must. Spices may be dried, but everything else must be fresh.
Kindle your appetite by nibbling on the maize pouches, "Hayacas" and the well-relished Tapioca and Cassava fritters, "Frituras de Malanga y Yuca", or indulge in the combination of Yuca, Malanga, corn and sweet potatoes in the form of
"Ajiaco Vegetariano" soup.
The main course has a healthy combination of vegetables and the most succulent meats, whether it is "Boliche a la Santhiaguera" or the stuffed beef with Ham and Sausage, or "Potaje de Frijoles", the red beans stew with rice and fried bananas. "Aporreado de Pescado" or the stringed fish in tomato sauce with green beans may be of particular interest to one wanting to experiment the new forms of the
pisces!
Hummm... the desserts that make you drool! "Casco de Guayaba con queso" or the guavas with slices of cheese, "Boniatillo" or the sweet potato pudding, would certainly make one come back to relish the cuisine!
Not to miss, the Cuban Season at Cafe Mercara, from 12 noon onwards!
