The Irish experience at Dublin

 Food

You don’t have to go to Ireland for a drop o’ the Irish, you can experience it in Chennai. ‘Dublin’, the first of its kind in Hotel Park Sheraton Towers, is an Irish pub open between 5.00 p.m. and 11.00 p.m. and translates into a snazzy nightclub after 11.00 p.m. to the wee hours.

The décor is done in Irish style, anything that will create the ‘craic’ (Irish for atmosphere) has been recreated here including design, staffing, food, music and drinks. There are plush cushioned chairs and sofas apart from the conventional bar stools. What is an Irish pub without Irish beer? Dab is a popular beer and comes from the land of dry stout. It is pitch black and yet has an element of intrigue in it. This particular drink is currently experiencing a tremendous surge in the global market. There is a special menu for every day of the week apart from the regular cocktail menu.

The cocktails are a heady mix, which keep the guests coming back for more. The interior evokes an Irish feel partly and partly that of a nightclub. The prevailing colour scheme is gray and black, the neon and laser lights have been imported specially. There is a double deck dance floor and after 11.00 p.m. it is mostly the teenage energy which fuels the floor. Frantic laser lights split the darkness of the interiors and the lights match the decibel levels of the DJ booth.

From the mod set to the pub and club-hopping crowd everyone is drawn together to check out this new wave. Regardless of where your musical roots lie -- be it pop, rave, rock ‘n’ roll, techno, rap, alternative rock or good ol’ Blues, the ‘Dublin’ offers a mix of foot tapping music. There are many artistes performing here from time to time and ‘Dublin’ has an exciting agenda in the pipeline. The dress code of shoes being mandatory for men is strictly followed.

All that one has to do to become a Dublin Privilege Member is to fill the proposal for the membership form and on acceptance, pay a sum of Rs 9999/- per annum. There is a host of privileges to avail of like 25% discount on food and beverages, including liquor, invites to events and free access to all branches of Dublin across Sheraton properties in India. Dublin is truly ‘distinctive in character’.
