Duchess hosts Lebanese food fest
Food connoisseurs in Chennai
will have a reason to feel special once again. A Lebanese food festival, on at
Duchess Restaurant, Kabul Complex, 35, T T K Road, Alwarpet, will exhibit native
secrets from the Lebanese cuisine. This food fete is on from December 12 to
December 21.
Lebanon conjures up images of
sun-drenched beaches, world-class museums and an exciting night-life, with
Beirut often being referred to as the Paris of the Middle East! The diverse
cuisine of this ancient land is just as colourful - a true reflection of its
hospitable culture.
The menu served would include
starters like oven kubbha (mashed vegetable with wheat cooked in tandoor) and
warra yenna (grape leaves with minced lamb rolled and steamed). The authentic
salads served would include thaboolae (tomato, cucumber, mint leaves, garlic and
lemon sauce), hummus (green peas, peanut sauce, lemon and yoghurt), muthabe
(baked egg plant with yoghurt lime and cumin) and lebansus salad (greenpeas,
onion with lemon cream sauce).
The main course would include
ribyan khothara saloona (prawn in creamy lemon sauce) and the Lebanese breads
served will be khuboos, chilli khuboos and zataar khuboos. The dessert platter
would include baalwa (cake sponge stuffed with cheese cream sauce) and haleeb
ball.
The ambience promises to be
rich with the waiters attired in traditional Arab costume.
Some
of the spices and oils used have been imported from Dubai. The menu served will
consist of starters and soups, vegetarian salads, main courses, different types
of breads, varieties of rice and desserts.
At the Lebanese food festival,
lunch will be served between 12 noon and 3 p.m., and dinner will be served
between 7 p.m. and 11.30 p.m.
