Qwiky’s Coffee Pub
Where: Coffee and short eats
What you get: G N Chetty Road, T Nagar
Here
I am after a tiresome three weeks during which I travelled abroad AND wrote my
final-year exams (aaaaargh!). Thankfully, I didn’t have much of jet lag as
Italy is only about three hours behind.
I finally got some time to
unwind on the last day of the exam, therefore my friend and I decided to do so
at Qwiky’s.
The last paper was especially tough so we thought why not make a rough tally on
the possible marks that we can get. I knew after that I wouldn’t be available
for civilisation for the next two days. I needed the time to sleep!
Qwiky’s
opens around 10.30 in the morning and remains open till 11 in the night. I have
not been to Qwiky’s
before and it was the first time for my friend too. We ordered a Vegetable Sheek
Kabab (Rs 60), which is a mince of vegetable with mint chutney, and a Mixed
Vegetable Sandwich (Rs 60), which promised carrots, cucumber, gherkins, olives,
jalapenos, olives, onion and cheese. Both sounded interesting and my friend
decided to indulge in some pastry too. Iced tea (Rs 30) and Cappuccino (Rs 25)
were the drinks we ordered. Yes, we were hungry!!
The
sheek kabab was fine but the vegetable sandwich had none of the promised
ingredients. Well, it had cheese, cucumber and carrots, I think, but the rest
were missing. I am an jalapeno fan and I was very disappointed. When asked, the
guys at the counter didn’t have much to say and they would neither add it on
our present sandwich nor change the piece.
Iced
tea wasn’t all that great either and the pastry was bad too. We were pretty
sad that our food wasn’t as good as we expected it to be. Considering that Qwiky’s
is a youth hangout, the prices aren’t too pocket-friendly. Or maybe the buying
power of the youth has increased.
Qwiky’s,
as I recall, was probably the one which introduced the bell - the one that you
ring when you have had a good time. I usually head for the bell but this time I
stayed away from it.
But the purpose of the visit
was met. We made a rough calculation and arrived at the magic figure of 60% that
would make us pass first class. We should get it. God willing!
