Meera Jasmine plays sister

Though caught in the controversy of an alleged fall from a staircase at her home, Aarti Agarwal recovered from the trauma and managed to get good reviews for her performance in her last film 'Andala Ramudu'. Now, after a long time the actress is going to pair with Rajasekhar who is on a high these days after his runaway success of 'Eavadaithe Nakenti'. The film, titled 'Gorintaku', is a remake of Kannada hit 'Annatangi' and is to be directed by V R Pratap. Mega Super Good Films is producing the film. Meera Jasmine plays sister to Rajasekhar in this film. The shooting for the film would commence on July 5.

A crowded engagement ceremony

Hundreds of people gathered outside the residence of Balakrishna to have a glmpse of the stars visiting the place on the occasion of Balakrishna’s elder daughter Brahmini’s engagement to TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu’s son Lokesh on Sunday. The marriage is going to take place at 8.34 a.m. on August 26. The engagement ceremony was attended by members of the Nandamuri family, Harikrishna, NTR, Kalyan Ram and Taraka Ratna and others from Tollywood, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Gummadi, D Ramanaidu, Nagarjuna, Amala, Venkatesh, Mohan Babu, Krishnam Raju, Raghavendra Rao, K L Narayana, Allu Aravind, D V S Raju, Y V S Chowdary, Devi Vara Prasad, Konda Krishnam Raju and B Gopal. Chiranjeevi is said to have called Balakrishna expressing his inability to attend the function as he was held up with the shooting of his film 'Shankar Dada Jindabad' in Australia.

Kaikala Satyanarayana is back

Gopichand's upcoming Lakshayam's audio was released recently at a glittering function in Hyderabad. Interestinly, Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Jamuna, who danced to the old number 'Niluvave Valu Kanula Dana...’ in 'Illarikam', as the film has its remix version, attended the function. Jagapathi Babu, who doesn’t mind making speacial appearances, is donning the role of Gopichand’s elder brother in the flick. Srivas, who entered the film industry as a camera assitant to Raghavendra Rao's 'Annamayya', is making his debut as a director with the film. Directors K Raghavendra Rao, Surender Reddy, Seenu Vytla and V V Vinayak, and producers D Rama Naidu, Nallamalupu Bujji, Bellamkonda Suresh and Pokuri Babu Rao, actress Mamta Mohandas and actors Kota Srinivasa Rao, Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav and lyricist Chandra Bose were present on the occasion.

Balachander's blessings

Uday Kiran, the actor who shot to fame with Teja’s 'Chitram', has not been heard of these days in Tollywood. The actor, who returns to Tollywood after Balachander's 'Abaddam', says though the film didn’t do well it was a learning experience working with a big director of Balachander's stature. He is making a comeback with Lagadapati Sridhar’s 'Viyyalavari Kayyalu', being directed by E Sattibabu. The film has Srihari and Shayaji Shinde sharing footage. Neha Julka is the heroine. "This film is aimed at all kinds of audience. I am doing a hairstylist role and for the first time, deviating from doing the lover boy next door kind of roles with this film," says Uday Kiran, who is celebrated his 26 birthday on June 26. While accepting that he was insecure about his career during the two-year gap, he says he is concentrating on quality rather than quantity. But for the time being, the actor says marriage is not on the cards. He is doing a Tamil film and two more projects are coming up in Telugu.

Anushka is leading lady

Anushka, the 'Super' girl has become the most sought after one after her performance in Rajamouli’s 'Vikramarkudu'. Now all her projects are with big stars. Her latest film, 'Lakshyam', the Gopichand-starrer is releasing in the first week of July. "I play a college girl in the film. The character I am playing has similarities to my real life. It is a good mix of glamour and performance," says the actress, appreciating director Srivas for moulding her character. Her other projects are Balakrishna’s 'Okka Magadu', Nagarjuna's 'Don', 'Arundhati' and another upcoming film with Jagapathi Babu to be directed by Dasarath. Anushka who maintains her physique with her regular Yoga says that She is more comfortable working with Nagarjuna than anyone else.
