Venkatesh's latest flick 'Adavari Matalaku Arthale Verule' is presently undergoing brisk shooting in Dubai. Being directed by Sri Raghava of 'Brindavan Colony 7/G' fame, the film has Trisha donning the lead role. "The film has all the ingredients - entertainment and emotion - that the audience seek from Venkatesh, in a new dimension. We are planning to release the film in summer," said producer Ashok Kumar. Sriram appears in an important role. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores the music. N V Prasad is the co-producer. K Viswanath, Sunil, Prasad Babu, Suman Shetty, Vinaya Prasad and Rajyalakshmi are the others in the cast.
Kammula's new project
Director Sekhar Kammula is in the process of churning out his fourth film 'Happy Days'. The director, who bagged an award for his very first film, 'Dollar Dreams', later went on to direct successful films like 'Anand' and 'Godavari'. All the six lead actors (three heroes and three heroines) in 'Happy Days' are newcomers selected by the director in a tie up with an FM channel. "We have given them training for three months. All are pucca Telugus. Shooting for the film will be completed in a single schedule," says the director. The film has music scored by Micky J. Meyor. The director who usually does not like to speak to the media till he completes the film, promises that the film is going to be a trendsetter. It will hit the screens by June.
International film festival
After the lavish platinum jubilee celebrations of Tollywood, Hyderabad is gearing up for another event - Hyderabad International Film Festival (HIFF). The festival is scheduled from March 23 to 29. According to film director Tammareddy Bharadwaja, it is just like a curtain-raiser for the next film festival coming up in January. "We may not organise the first HIFF on a largescale due to lack of time and funds," he said. The festival will have several sections like world cinema, classics, documentary and short films, etc. The festival committee has already received 100 entries from abroad and is currently in the process of screening them. Short films of the duration 3-12 minutes and 12-30 minutes will be screened and awards will be given away for best fiction film and best non-fiction film. Director Sekhar Kammula opined that film festivals like these are a platform for young film-makers to exhibit their creations. "I had paid rent for theatres to exhibit my first film 'Dollar Dreams'," recollects Sekhar. Hyderabad Film Club, in association with AP Film Directors Association, is conducting the film festival.
A film with newcomers
Pursuing one's education abroad has been the dream of many a youngster nowadays. One such youth gets admission in a foreign university where he happens to meet a beautiful girl. Though both are from India they hail from different states. The two fall in love despite the linguistic and cultural differences and what happens later forms the crux of the film, it is the theme of the film 'Gnapakam' being directed by Upplapati Narayana. The film has newcomers Venkateswara Rao Atluri and Visaka Singh playing the lead roles. Sekhar Chandra scores the music. "Beautiful memories and reminiscences is part the story," reveals the director.
Crucial film for Mahesh Babu
Mahesh Babu’s 'Athidhi' is back in Hyderabad after a brief shooting schedule in Delhi. Currently, the film is undergoing shooting at Padmalaya Studios in Hyderabad. Mahesh is appearing with a new hairstyle in the film. Director Surender Reddy of 'Athanokkade' says that the film is going to be an innovation in family entertainers. The film is important for both the director as well as for Mahesh as their previous films 'Ashok' and 'Sainikudu' respectively didn't do well. Manisharma scores the music for the film. Fans of Mahesh are awaiting 'Athidhi' as it has M F Hussain's new find Amrita Rao. The film is slated for a summer release.
