Megastar Chiranjeevi's latest flick 'Shankar Dada Zindabad', a remake of 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai' was launched recently. Though the Hindi version is a class film, some mass elements are being added to the Telugu version to suit the megastar's image and Telugu language, according to the writers Paruchuri Brothers. Srikanth, who played ATM in 'Shankar Dada MBBS', is going to appear in the same role. Pawan Kalyan who appeared for a few seconds in the song 'Naa Pere Kanchanamala' in Shankar Dada MBBS, will also be seen in the sequel. "The concept of Gandhigiri is going to make a lot of difference to the script. Entertainment coupled with social message will give me an image," opined the megastar. Prabhu Deva is all set to direct the megastar. Devi Sri Prasad is scoring the music. Though Vidya Balan was considered for the heroine's role initially, now Nayantara's name is being toyed around.
Ileana on a roll
She stole the hearts of many a Telugu fan with her very first two films 'Devadasu' and 'Pokiri'. Though 'Khatarnak' disappointed her a little bit, 'Rakhi' relieved her. Yes. You guessed it right. We are talking about Ileana. Currently acting in 'Alta' alongside Siddhartha, Ileana has grabbed the lead role opposite 'Pawan Kalian' in his latest film to be directed by Trivikram Srinivas. This writer-turned-director has, earlier, directed two films, 'Nuvve Nuvve' and 'Athadu' where heroine has an equal role and footage as the hero. It remains to be seen what is in store for her in the film, as so far she has confined herself to glamorous roles alone.
Kona Venkat turns to direction
He is better known as a writer and good friend of Ramu (Ram Gopal Varma) to all in the film industry. He has been a dialogue writer for all remakes of Hindi films of Ramu. He is Kona Venkat. The industry has been talking about his entry into direction for sometime now. Now the grapevine has it that he is all set to take the plunge into direction with a film to be produced by Ad Labs of the Reliance Group. Said to be a romantic love story, the film will be produced in Telugu and Tamil. It has Madhavan as hero and Shamita Shetty and Shriya Reddy as heroines. The film is going to be launched in the first week of March.
Bilingual in Telugu and Hindi
A bilingual film was launched recently with Venkat and Tulip in the lead roles. When we say bilingual, we take it for granted that it is in Telugu and Tamil. But this film is going to be made in Telugu and Hindi. Satishpal Raj and K Abraham are producing the film under Sapara Arts banner. The film is going to be a hilarious entertainer with comedian Johny Lever donning a role in the Hindi version and Ali, in the Telugu version. "The film is going to be a suspense thriller soaked in comedy and will be completed in a single schedule," said director Raju Rajendra Prasad. Rajat Bedi, Asish Vidhyarthi and Lata Sabarwal are the other members of the cast.
One director directs another
Audio of Gopichand's latest film 'Okkadunnadu' was launched recently. The function was attended by directors Raghavendra Rao, Rajamouli, Bhaskar, producers Pokuri Babu Rao, Dil Raju and B V S N Prasad, writers Vijayendra Prasad and J K Bharavi and actors Prabhas and Raviteja. It has music scored by M M Keeravani. The film is directed by Chandra Sekhar Yeleti of 'Aithe' and 'Anukokunda Oka Roju'. The director of the film set a precedent and this is going to promote harmony among directors. He sent director Krishna Vamsi to accompany his film crew abroad, as he was held up here with re-recording work. This move of the director is being appreciated well in film circles.Two songs and three sequences of the film were shot abroad and these were shot under the supervision of Vamsi. The film is scheduled to be released in the first week of March.
