Good break for Malavika

Malavika seems to be back in circulation. 'Chithiram Pesuthadi', a box office success, has brought the actress to centrestage. The Gana song by Gana Ulaganathan and pictured on him also had Malavika mildly gyrating to it whenever the camera was on her. With the song a big hit and Malavika too noticed, she's being offered item numbers which the actress is not too keen to take. Further, her performance in 'Thiruttu Payale' as the lonely wife caught straying and then trying desperately to save the marriage and be one up on the blackmailer, has got her rave reviews from the media. It is a new lease of life for the actress.

Milind Soman in Tamil films

He was involved in a controversy years ago, when he did an ad with his then girl friend and co-model Madhu Sapre. It was an ad for the condom Kamasutra and it had Milind Soman and Madhu in an intimate pose in the buff, with only a snake coiled around them for company. It had raised the hackles of many women's organisations, which protested at their doors. Milind entered films after that. Now the model-turned-hero makes a sojourn in the south. He is acting in a Tamil film, his first, sharing frames with Sharat Kumar, Jyotika and Tabu. The film is 'Silanthi' and is being directed by Gautham Menon. Gautham is known for the extra dimension he presents his characters with. And one won't be surprised if Milind finds himself besieged with offers post the film's release.

Pithamagan in Kannada

Many Tamil films are being remade in Kannada these days, though not all are successes. One of the films is 'Pithamagan', director Bala's acclaimed film which had earned for Vikram the national award. It's Kannada's top star Upendra who is re-enacting the role. Darshan, ruling the roost among the younger crop of heroes, plays the glib-talking Surya, while Navya Nair plays the role of Laila. Sounds an exciting project, but would it reap the success and earn the acclaim that the Tamil version did?

Vikram banks on Bhima

Talking of Vikram, the actor is back with his new film 'Bhima'. After the lukewarm response to 'Maja', the actor is making sure that his next film won't disappoint his fans. 'Bhima' has Lingusamy at the helm and is produced by A M Ratnam's Surya Movies. And it's Trisha who is sharing frames with Vikram, the duo coming together again after their successful pairing in Samy. In a casting coup, Nana Patekar has been roped in to play the villain. Sounds like an exciting package!

Mumtaz with baddies

With 'Jerry' to release shortly, Mumtaz fans should be happy. The actress' other film, 'Veerasamy', seems to be still on hold. But Mumtaz has signed a new film, 'Very Good', a heroine-oriented subject directed by Raviraja. Co-starring with her are the baddies of the Tamil screen, Alex, Raghuvaran, Mansur Ali Khan, Radharavi and Ponnambalam. The acress looks slim and sexy and all ready to take on the new glamour queens who have made inroads in her absence. 'Everything is possible', says the film caption, and for Mumtaz everything is possibly if only she puts her mind to it!
