The Legend of Buddha
Director: Shamboo Falke
Producers: Pentamedia Graphics Limited
Produced using talents from India, Singapore and the Philippines, 'The Legend' of 90 minutes duration, and reportedly the first 2D animation feature film produced from India, simplifies the life and teachings of Buddha, the prince who left behind his kingdom and a beautiful life to go in search of truth. The film has catchy music and simplified philosophy of Buddha's middle or eight-fold path, which makes for engaging viewing for children and adults.
The entire animation production done at Manila included more than 400 animators and artists. The detailed backgrounds which numbered more than a 1,000 were hand-painted painstakingly. The film, partly funded by the Singapore government, had its pre-production done in India and post-production in India and Singapore.
The film, with its message of non-violence, is especially relevant in today's turbulent times.
