Reema Sen - a tete a tete
Soaring high on the appreciation she's been getting for the performance in the recently released
'Chellamay' is Reema Sen. Her acting career began with director Teja's Telugu film 'chithram'. In Tamil it was the Gautham Menon directed 'Minnale' with
Madhavan, that introduced her to Tamil audiences.
The film was a hit, but Reema had not many takers, though she'd established herself as a glamour puss, sizzling the screen with her sensuusness. But 'Chellamay' has changed all that, given a boost to her career, revealed her as an actress with talents, glamour and film-makers have started taking a second look at her. Excerpts from some of the question asked to the actress at a press meet.
On her glamour image: Cinema itself is a glamour-medium. Glamour is part of cinema, so I don't find anything wrong in playing glamour roles. But dressing glamorously is one thing, and vulgarly is another. I will never dress vulgarly. I think for an actress to make it big, some amount of glamour and sensuousness is necessary.
Would she act nude if the role demands: Definitely not. Even if they gave me a crore I won't act in the buff! We artists should also have a sense of social awareness. We have a duty towards society too. Many of the younger generation emulate us blindly, our mannerisms, our dress sense. So we should be careful how we carry ourselves on the screen too.
On
Mumbai actresses smoking and drinking: Some of the actresses may be doing it. It's each one's perception. But I don't have those habits. Liquor and tobacco are harmful to the health.
Would she do a kissing scene: If the role demands why not! There is nothing wrong in doing a kissing scene. I don't think it's vulgar either.
On her doing an item number in
'J.. J....': When the producer and the director asked me to do the dance I couldn't refuse them. And they paid me the fee I asked for, so why shouldn't I?
On her marriage plans: Not for another five years!
