Why is it called "Arthur's
Filmfest"?
Legend has it that the idea behind the Round Table was such that King Arthur's Knights could meet to tell of their many adventures and good deeds. The Tablers were inspired to name the event after them. Today, these principles are followed in the same way among Tablers with fellowship serving as a medium to enhance service to humanity. Arthur's Filmfest gives an opportunity to showcase the talents of Tablers and to express their concerns in today's social context.
And the awards are...
The best three films in each of the categories will receive cash awards and the film-makers will be "knighted". There are also awards for the best actor, actress, director, art/costumes, cinematographer, script and soundtrack.
The proceeds and collections from sponsorship and ticket sales for this very exclusive event will go towards MMRT 42 and Round Table India's 'Freedom through Education' project initiative which aims to bring primary education and school infrastructure to one million children in India. A spokesman said, "We have already reached the 1,000 school milestone in a short span of four years. Over the years our fund-raisers have collected over Rs 1 crore towards our ongoing projects, primarily the Freedom through Education initiative. The schools at Minjur, Mudichur, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur and Athur, among others, are testimonials to these efforts. The proceeds of this event will go towards realising another such dream."
