According to Kashi Khanda, Shukra, along with Brihaspathi studied under Angirasa. But Shukra, to his dismay, notices Angirasa's undue favouritism towards his son Brihaspathi. Shukra leaves to enrole himself with Gauthama Maharishi. On Gauthama Maharishi's advice he sets off on a penance on the banks of river Gautami to appease Lord Shiva and obtains 'Mritasanjeevani," (the technique of reviving the deceased back to life). Shukra thus presides over as a teacher to the demons and in the battle between the gods and demons, he breathes life into the slain demons. Shukra is sharp. When Vishnu with the Vaamana roopam, arrives in Bali's kingdom and asks for three steps as alms, Shukra is quick to understand the implication of such a request and warns Bali in advance. As he stands between the alms given and the Vaamana to block a possible catastrophe, Vaamana pierces Shukra’s eye and from then he becomes an one-eyed guru. Shukra's nature: The fair-coloured Shukra adorns a crown and positions himself on a white lotus. The four-handed Shukra holds the baton, rosary, a vessel and a gesture of assurance. He favours demons and presides over the material and metaphysical wealth; blessed by Brahma, he attains planetary positions and showers bounty everywhere. Indraani is his adhidewata and Indra is the Pratyadhidevata. The eight-horse-chariot of Shukra sports many flags. Shukra stands for pleasure, love, marriage, beauty, jewellery, fine arts, etc. Any type of prosperity is the result of Shukra's blessing. A broken marriage, ill-repute, excess expenditure, kidney problem, diabetics, throat infection are the result of Shukra being in a malignant position. Í츢à Š§¾¡ò¾¢Ãõ
