Navarathri Golu at Madhya Kailash
The minute I entered the temple, the first thing I noticed was the special golu. Huge golu steps lined the entrance to the Ananda Vinayakar shrine. On either side, 7 steps were arranged, on which various golu dolls were displayed. Typical ones like the Ramayana set with Rama, Lakshmana, Seetha and Hanuman; Dasavadaram; Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswati etc. There were some unusual ones as well - one such was a bronze idol of Sri Rama embracing his devotee Anjaneya. Another was a doll version of a Ganapathi murthy enshrined here. What is unusual about this moorthy is that it is half Vinayaka and half Hanuman. (picture) Every evening, between 6.00 and 7.30, women and children are given special thamboola prasadam. Members of a mahila club also conduct a special bhajan at the same time.
