Brahmotsavam of the four hundred year old Sri Varadaraja Perumal temple at Minjur
commenced on May 16, 2000. As the temple has been modelled after those at Kancheepuram, this shrine of Lord Vishnu is known as South Kanchi. The Lord's consort Perundevi Valli also has a temple which is said to be a later addition. This annual festival, of
Varadaraja Perumal
Temple, included Garuda Seva (May 18) and Ratha Utsavam (May 22)
and will conclude on May 25. The splendour of the festival is to be seen to be believed.
The photographs here give a foretaste of it.
