Sri Jayendra peetarohana celebrations

The Roots of War

This is a special year for those who value the religious lore of our ancient saints, as it marks the Golden Jubilee of the Peetarohanam of Sri Jayendra Saraswati as the Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam.

The devotees of the Sankaracharya are celebrating this milestone with a four-day festival at the Kanchi Jagadguru Chandrasekarendra Saraswati Mahaswami Auditorium, Vani Mahal, in Chennai from January 18. It will be an occasion to honour all those, who as true disciples of the Swami, have worked beyond the call of duty in their chosen pursuits.

On March 22, 1954, the life of a young boy was changed by Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati. The young Subramaniam, thus inducted into sanyasa, began the journey of compassion as His Holiness Jayendra Saraswati. The rest is divine history.

For half-a-century, the Sankaracharya has been reaching out to the people, throughout the length and breadth of the country, having covered one million kms by foot, visiting over 3,000 villages, towns and cities.

On January 18, 2004, Kanchi Jayendra Saraswati Peetarohana Swarna Jayanti Eminence Awards in Saiva Siddhantam are being presented.
