A special Mahasivaratri
 On Mahasivaratri, devotees were doubly blessed to have the dardshan of both the Sankaracharyas of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam at the Siva-Vishnu temple in TNagar, Chennai, on February 18.
Vijayendra Saraswathi, the junior Sankaracharya, performed puja to Lord Chandramouleeswara at the temple.
The senior Sankaracharya too arrived at the Siva-Vishnu temple after concluding a yatra in central India. Devotees had the opportunity of having a darshan of both the Sankaracharyas on the holy occasion.

Mahashivaratri.
Earlier in the day, the 35th Jayanthi Celebrations of Vijayendra Saraswathi began with Viswaroopa Darsan at 4.45 a.m.
The bursting of fire crackers outside the Sankara Mutt at West Mambalam signified the commencement of the celebrations.
 A large number of devotees waited eagerly since early hours of the day for the Viswaroopa Darshan and one could see joy on their faces on having the first darshan. Flower crowns, garlands of flowers, fruits, vilvam and tulsi, shawls and vastrams were presented to the Sankaracharya. It was a feast to the eyes of devotees to see different, and fast-changing alankarams of the
acharya.
At the Kamakshi Amman sannadhi in the mutt, the Sankaracharya performed abhisekam to Devi Kamakshi and the Padukas of Adi Sankara Bhagavadpada with 108 pots of milk. Swarnabhishekam was also performed to the Goddess, followed by alankaram and
deeparadana.
This was followed by the recitation of Rig Veda, performance of Ayushya and Manyusukta Homams at the mutt. Devotees came in a queue with great eagerness to receive the blessings of the swamigal, and their devotion was answered in full measure as the acharya blessed each devotee individually.
Later, the scene of celebrations shifted to the Siva-Vishnu Temple, a few hundred metres from the Sankara mutt. The acharya was received with traditional poornakumbham by the assembled devotees.
