The Roots of War
 The 74th Jayanthi of H.H.Sri Sathguru Swami Gnanananda Sarasvathi was celebrated with fervour by her devotees at the Kanchi Mahaswami Anantha Mantapam on August 7.
Homams were performed in the morning followed by Pada
Puja.
Jayanthi Karthikeyan and Aloka Gupta, disciples of Pandit Manohar S.Kulkarni of Kolhapur sang Hindustani bhajans.
In the evening, Udaiyalur K.Kalyanaraman’s bhakthi-surcharged bhajans set the mood for Sri Sathguru’s discourse.
Sri Sathguru stressed that Dharma is the basis on which a happy and prosperous life could be built. "Without it there can be no peace of mind. Dharma protects but Adharma as a basis of life destroys. When we practice a Dharmic life, that dharma itself protects us. God loves His devotee; but if you want to experience His love you must walk towards Him. The same intensity with which worldly goals are pursued should be given to the search for God."
Sri Sathguru also stressed the need for prayer and Bhakti. By constantly thinking of God, temptations can be overcome. “If you feel weak, pray to Him for strength.” The highest state can be reached by anyone regardless of status and should be the main goal for all beings.
Sri Sathguru has been teaching the path of Bhakti and Saranagati for more than 40 years. Reclusive and modest, Sri Sathguru has always avoided publicity of any kind and spent most of Her time in tapas and meditation for the good of the world. Since Sri Sathguru was a householder, a wife and mother of five children, before taking Vidwat Sanyasa in 1975, Sri Sathguru is able to relate to the problems and travails of the common people.
